Why viewers leave in the first 30 seconds (and how to fix it)

The crucial first 30 seconds of your YouTube video

YouTube's algorithm spells it out for you pretty clearly: The first 30 seconds determine everything.

If viewers leave before then, your video might as well not exist.

Here's my client's 30-second hook formula that increased their average watch time by 67%:

  1. Problem statement (5 seconds) "Tired of posting videos that nobody watches?"

  2. Credibility boost (5 seconds) "After helping 100+ business owners with their YouTube strategy..."

  3. Promise (10 seconds) "I'm going to show you the exact method that consistently turns viewers into high-ticket clients."

  4. Preview (10 seconds) "You'll learn three things: the perfect title formula, my high-conversion script template, and how to turn viewers into sales calls."

Notice: No fancy intro. No "like and subscribe." Just pure value, instantly.

Try this structure in your next video. Watch your retention skyrocket.

Tomorrow, I'm sharing my complete video script template...

Best, Kacey
